Services for Jack H. Reid, 85, of Martins Mill, Texas are scheduled for 11:00 am, Monday December 22, 2014 at Heritage Trail Cowboy Church in Ben Wheeler, with Bro. C.R. Chapman officiating under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.
Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery, Martins Mill, TX.
He passed away December 18, 2014 in Martins Mill.
Mr. Reid was born October 12, 1929 in Martins Mill, TX to Romie & Myrtie Reid.
Jack grew up in Martins Mill where he attended school. After graduating, he joined The United States Air Force and served his country in The Korean War. When Jack returned home, he went to work for Airco Industrial Gases and retired after 21 years. He and his wife, Ruth, loved to play music. For 14 years, they met every Friday night at the Martins Mill Store to play music on the front porch and were known as the Martins Mill Jammers. Jack and Ruth also enjoyed traveling the country with other musicians for many years. He was also a member of Heritage Trail Cowboy Church in Ben Wheeler.
Jack is survived by his wife, Ruth Reid of Martins Mill, Daughter, Diane Tanner of Poetry, TX, Daughter, Suzie Hill of Rowlett, TX, Daughter, Debra & Bruce Dean of Merit, TX, 5 Grandchildren, Austin Watkins, Vanessa Hudgins, Valerie & Dave Mein, Vanita Carter, & Clyde Talmadge Kempf, 11 Great Grandchildren, and Sister, Valette Reid Simmons.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Brother, Mack Reid, Sister, Betty Lou Furlong, and Sister, Lillie Vaye Stephens.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heritage Trail Youth Fund.
