Services for JD "Wick" Wilkerson, 85, of Canton, are scheduled for 10 am Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Bill Parr and Bro. Keith Wilkerson officiating. Interment will be in Haven of Memories.
Mr. Wilkerson passed away February 1, 2021 at his home. He was born March 1, 1935 in Canton to Ernest Juit and Ethel Graham Wilkerson. Wick lived his whole life in the Little Hope Community.
Wick was a member of the Little Hope Baptist Church and the Pine Lodge #203. He served on the Canton School Board for 10 years and was one of the founding members of the Van Zandt County Fair. Wick and his wife, Dixye, had one of the first licensed foster homes in Van Zandt County and cared for many foster children. He was a co-founder of Wilkerson and Tunnell Building Contractors in 1979. Wick loved telling a good story and spending time with his family.
Mr. Wilkerson is preceded in death by his wife, Dixye Wilkerson; son, Kirk Wilkerson; two brothers: JM and JR "Dobie" Wilkerson; and two sisters: Zelda Townsend and Joyce Crabtree.
Wick is survived by his son, Keith and Debbie Wilkerson of Gladewater; son, Kevin and Pam Wilkerson of Mabank; daughter, Karla and Joe Fry of Canton; son, Kyle Wilkerson of Canton; daughter-in-law, Tyke Wilkerson of Canton; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Jo Nell Tunnell of Canton.
Family will receive friends 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
