Howard Herbert Brown was born June 1, 1927 to Virgil Thomas Brown and Esther Louise Pullen Brown in Wrightsboro, Gonzales County, Texas. Howard died March 10, 2021 in Denton Texas at the age of 93 years and 9 months while residing at Anthology Senior Living Center, Denton. Howard lived in Dallas for many years and in Canton, TX for about 20 years.
Mr. Brown is preceded in death by both parents his son Howard Michael Brown, 2 sisters Margie and Mary Lee, brother Milton, 2 grandsons Brandon and Howard Lewis, 3 granddaughters April, Donna and Amanda, plus 3 spouses Donna, Ethel and Mary Frances.
He is survived by 4 daughters Millie Goodman, Virginia Parr, Donna Lee Brown and Margie Mines, 3 siblings John Brown, Virgil Brown Jr. and Virgie McCann plus 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and15 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Brown was a veteran of WWII and Korean War serving in both the Army and Navy. He was active in the American Legion Post 511 serving in various roles including Commander. He supported the VA Hospital and was instrumental in facilitating the raising of countless donations for veterans and veteran services over several decades.
Howard worked for LeDew Sprinkler Company for 34 years before retiring in 1986 and was a member of the National Automatic Sprinkler/Pipe Fitters Union and Local 669. His work took him all over Texas and other parts of the United States following the footsteps of his father, Virgil Brown Sr. Howard loved his family and never met a stranger.
Mr. Brown was a devout Christian and a member of Singing Oaks Church of Christ, Denton TX. Howard tried to live a life of devotion to God. He was a servant-leader and will be missed greatly by many who had the privilege to know him. Howard will be greatly missed by his adopted family Ray and Nancy Hall, David and Wendy Bell, Brandon and Heather Bell with their daughters Maci and Molly and Lauren (Bell) and Joshua Bunch and daughters Peyton and Jolee.
