Gerald Beaver passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014. We were blessed that Mom was able to be with him and say her good byes. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff of the Azalea Trail Nursing Home in Grand Saline, Texas for their tender care that they provided our dad.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, Texas. Visitation will be Friday December 19, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Gerald was a graduate of Canton High School, he was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, and fought in Korea during the Korean War.
Gerald will be remembered as a soft-spoken Husband, Father, Grand Father, and friend who would do anything at any time to help or be there for someone in need. During these past few years, while in more pain than most could endure, no matter how bad he felt, or how bad he hurt, he always made sure he checked in on Mom with his “Loving Smile” and ask her “How was your day?”. Over the years, unless he was in the hospital, he always would sit and hold Mom’s hand and comfort her. Mom and Dad were married 59 years and except for work and hospital stays, they were always together and rarely far from each other’s sight. Many of you know that Mom has Alzheimer's and rarely knows anyone. We were blessed that Mom and Dad were together with Mom holding Dad’s hand comforting him when he passed. Mom’s Alzheimer's seems to have been a blessing in disguise, as it seems to have eased the pain of Dad’s passing, but we believe that she knows Dad had gone to be with the Lord.
Our parents “Love” for each other has been and will always be an inspiration to anyone who knew them and witnessed their love for each other.
Gerald was born July 8, 1930, to Bessie and Lilburn Beaver in Groesbeck, Texas. Gerald was preceded in death by his father, Lilburn Beaver; mother, Bessie Beaver; brother, Tommy Beaver; and sister, Rita Fay Norrell.
