Services for George “Dick” Turner are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Holly Springs Cemetery in Martins Mill, TX. Bro. Ronnie Daniell will be officiating under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Holly Springs Cemetery in Martins Mill.
George passed away peacefully at his home Saturday September 10, 2016 in Canton.
He was born July 2, 1926 in Clayton, OK to Elijah “Jack” Turner and Lula Mae Nash.
George grew up in Van, TX and was a proud graduate of Van High School class of 1945. He worked as a mechanic and a brick tender for a short time after high school before going to work for Texas Power & Light as a meter reader. George spent 32 years for TP&L, working his way up to become a service tech before retiring. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan who enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, reading the Tyler News, and feeding the squirrels & birds in is yard. One of George’s favorite things to do was keeping up with the family’s latest news, near and far. He was a man who never passed up a good deal on any new, used, or partially destroyed tool.
He is survived by his Wife, Neoma Turner of Canton; Son, Steven & Lori Turner of St. Louis, MO; Daughter, Tammy Lynn & Brad Hobgood of Ft. Worth, TX; Son, Phillip Turner of Des Moines, IA; Step Daughter, Kathy Perkins; Step Son, Douglas Briggs; Step Daughter, Carol Gamboa; Grandchildren, Olivia, Courtney, Austin, Katy, Lucas, Morgan, Garrett, Benjamin, Elijah, Matthew, and Marisa; Great Grandchildren, Kaylynn, Christian, and Kynsley.
George is preceded in death by his Parents, Jack & Lula Mae Turner; Wife, Ira Nell Daniel Turner; Daughter, Cynthia Kay Ruezga; Sisters, Katy, Bobbie, Maggie, Eileen, & Anna; and Brother, Albert.
Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
