Ethel Leona Wood

Services for Ethel Leona Wood, 92, of Canton, are scheduled for 1 pm Friday, September 16, 2016, at the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating. Interment will be in the Old Bethel Cemetery.

Mrs. Wood passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016, in Tyler. She was born January 12, 1924, in Canton to Noland Alexander and Mary Ethel Smith Groom.

Leona was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Canton. She grew up in the Old Bethel Community. She and her husband, George, raised their family in Dallas and retired back to Canton. Leona enjoyed activities at the Senior Citizen's Center, quilting and singing at nursing homes.

Mrs. Wood is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Wood; 2 sons: Rodney and Lanny Wood; 3 grandchildren: Wendy Lynn Wood, David Wood and Stormy Wood; 4 sisters: Hattie Gillespie, Alpha Lunsford, Margaret Taylor and Wilma Lawley Chamblee; and a brother, Marlin Groom.

Leona is survived by her 2 daughters: Barbara Wood and Saundra Wood, both of Canton; daughter-in-law, Kay Wood of Forney; 3 grandchildren: Billy Herd, Brandy Wood and Bradley Wood; 3 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Edith Kirkland of La Junta, Colorado and Geneva and E.J. Sprague of Canton.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
