Dorothy Elizabeth Black

Dorothy (Dottie) passed away Monday, October 31, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 22, 1934, to Thomas and Myrtle Koonce George in Biardstown, Texas. Dorothy went through life known as a little firecracker. She loved music and listening to Elton John, Marty Robbins and watching The Voice made her happy. In later years, she became a sports fan and was a huge supporter of the Dallas Mavericks. Dorothy would not leave the house without first checking the weather with Evan Andrews and saying “Evan said” claiming he was always right. While she was very energetic and loved to talk, she was also extremely generous and giving. Dorothy always remembered birthdays of all her friends and family members. She loved to cook delicious home-style meals and would gather the family together on Monday nights for dinner. Holidays were always a fun time at Gammie’s house as she would decorate everywhere and after cooking for hours then worry there would not be enough food. Everyone would leave full, with large containers of leftovers.

Dorothy worked full time until she was 75 years of age.

She is preceded in death by her dear parents, Thomas and Myrtle.

Visitation will begin 1 hour prior to service.
