David was born on May 5, 1944 in Beaumont, Texas to Woodrow Wilson Holliday and Mary Evelyn Herrington.
He grew up in Beaumont and graduated from French High School in 1962 before attending Lamar University. Doc joined the Army and served as a Green Beret. After serving, he had a music career that spanned over 60 years. Doc was married on May 24, 2010 to Cindy Richardson King. He was active in the Music Ministry and the Praise and Worship Band at the Living For the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens, Texas.
Doc is preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Mary Holliday.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Holliday; Sister, MaryAnn & Pete Verde; Niece, Amy & Kade Wallace; Nephew, Kevin & Jennifer Verde; Grand Nieces and Nephews, Meghan, Kennedy, Karson, Luca, and Leia; Cindy's Children, April & Tim Tolbert, Robert Day, Chris & Naomi Day, and Gage Marshall; and numerous Grandchildren.
