Services for Charles D. Baker, 79, of Canton are scheduled for 2 pm Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Lakeside Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Moore officiating under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. Interment will be in Haven of Memories.
Mr. Baker passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015, at his home. He was born March 19, 1936, in Combine, TX to Charlie William Baker and Jewell Baker Mason.
Charles was a charter member of Lakeside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, a longtime Sunday School Teacher, active in evangelism and went on many mission trips. He was a practicing pharmacist for fifty-one and a half years and owned Baker’s Pharmacy in Canton for 24 years. He was an avid hunter, firearms expert and University of Texas Longhorn. He loved sharing his hunting knowledge with all his family, especially his grandchildren. As passionate as he was about hunting, he enjoyed spending time with his family more. The times spent hunting and with family created memories which will last a lifetime.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his father, Charlie William Baker; mother, Jewell Baker Mason; and his step-father, Sam Mason.
Charles is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Baker of Canton; two daughters and their husbands: Dana and Dan Wilkirson of San Antonio, Mitzi and Larry Tally of Grand Prairie; two sons and their wives: Rick and Janet Baker of Bedford, Charlie and Krystal Baker of Lubbock; eleven grandchildren: Jacque Wilkirson, Brian and Simone Wilkirson, Kristen Wilkirson, Jordan Tally, Brandon Baker, Megan Tally, Blake Baker, Amanda Baker, Kayla West, Nick Baker and Alexis West; step-brother, James Mason and a step-sister, Martha Bomar, uncle, JS Risinger and wife, Dorothy; brother-in-law, James Carder and wife, Carolyn; nephew, Jason Carder and wife Brandi; niece, Jennifer Stratton and husband, Troy; along with numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Brian Wilkirson, Jordan Tally, Brandon Baker, Blake Baker, Nick Baker and Jason Carder. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Lakeside Baptist Church and the In Joy Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be 6-8 Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Lakeside Bus Ministry, 1291 Old Kaufman Road, Canton, TX 75103.
