Charles passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024 in Garland, Texas. He was born on July 11, 1943 in Houston, Texas to Addison Ayres and Dorothy Bailey Ayres.
Charles was Christian by faith. He grew up in the Canton area and was a graduate of Galena Park High School in Galena Park, Texas. Charles moved to and was a long-time resident of Garland, Texas. He was known for and loved his long beard and long hair. Christmas was his favorite time of year because children would call him Santa.
Charles was a proud veteran, who served his country in the Army. He was a member of the HOG (Harley Owners Group) and Pipe Fitters’ local union 211. Charles was a lover of Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and his best days were spent on the open road. Charles dearly loved his family. Smoking meats, briskets, ribs and time with family and friends was his biggest joy. Charles will live on in the hearts and memories of all that knew and loved him. Remember him fondly when you hear the roar of a motorcycle.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Addison and Dorothy Ayres.
Charles is survived by his son, Monty Ayres; daughter Amber Bonander and husband, Ross; grandchildren: Ali Ayres, Emily Ayres and Alexa Ayres; sister and brother-in-law, Wynell and Norman Scardino; brother, Mack Ayres.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Haven of Memories Memorial Park, Canton, Texas.
