Charles William Archer, 74, passed away March 3, 2021 in Tyler TX. He was born October 25, 1946 in Dallas, TX to Iris Corley and Eugene Archer. He graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas and attended Dallas Baptist College. Chuck served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received numerous awards including a Purple Heart. He retired as a Sergeant after 33 years of service at the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department and continued to work on a part time basis for an additional 2 years.
Chuck’s hobby was traveling and he took many road trips to his favorite places. Through the years he visited 49 states. He especially loved the times he was able to visit his Vietnam “Foxhole Buddy” Brownie and wife, Joy, in Arizona. These travels gave him wild stories, which he loved sharing with anyone who would listen.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Sherrie; daughter, Tracy Laing; step-daughter, Angie Moser and son-in law Russell Robertson; step-son, Richard Brown and daughter-in-law Sandra; brother Garry Dillard; sister, Janice Morris and husband Mike; granddaughter, Harli Hankins and husband Josh; grandsons J.J. Moser, Manuel Brown, Anthony Brown and Cash Moser; great-granddaughter Oaklee Grae Hankins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Iris Corley Dillard and Eugene Archer; grandparents, Hiram and Nora Corley.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 8, 2021 at Eubank Funeral Home, Canton. Visitation will be at 10:00 am, and Services at 11:00 a.m., Interment at 12:30 p.m. at College Mound Cemetery, Terrell Texas. Masks and social distancing is required.
