Chad Eric Darby

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Chad Eric Darby, 50, of Canton will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 16, 2024, following a visitation at 12:00 noon, at Eubank Funeral Home, Pastor Susie Barton officiating.

Chad passed away on December 10, 2024 in Canton, Texas. He was born on September 20, 1974 in Dallas, Texas to Joseph Michael Darby and Linda Gayle Baggett Darby.

Chad grew up in Van Zandt County, Texas. He was a graduate of Martins Mill High School. Chad was a hard-working man but we all know he liked his leisure days too. He spent time on the road seeing the country behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler. He enjoyed this time seeing the world through a windshield. This profession wasn’t the one he found first but it was his absolute favorite and he loved to bring his family along for the ride. He found West Virginia this way and it was his dream to live there one day. Chad was a “Jack of all Trades” and was good at everything he fixed or built. Chad spent his leisure time hunting, fishing, and riding his Harley; his favorite hobby was to ride, he always said being on his Harley made him feel free; just him, the road, and the wind blowing on his face. But what he would consider the best day, was a day spent with his children, grandchildren, and family. Family was very important to him. He beamed when talking about his children. He was his happiest when his days were spent with his children. Chad will be dearly missed by family and friends; but they will cherish the memories that they each have with him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph (Mike) Darby and brother, Michael Darby, his paternal grandparents, J Lee and Margie Dillingham, and maternal grandparents, Bill and Ruby Baggett.

Those here to cherish and share memories of Chad are his children, Kross Darby and wife, Haylee, Makaela Allen and husband, Brian; mother, Linda Darby; grandchildren: Kolt Darby, Koast Allen, Knox Darby, Kasper Allen; former spouse and mother of his children: Denice Abbott Darby; sisters, Lisa Wilson and husband, Andy, Amy Smallwood and husband, Billy; brother, David Darby and wife, Amy Bass; a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers are Kross Darby, Brian Allen, David Darby, Michael Darby II, David Darby, Jr., Taylor Hutcherson, Tyler Smallwood, Billy Smallwood, Bobby Eubanks and Tony Hogue.

Final resting place will be at Zion Hill Cemetery in Athens, Texas.
