Bonnie Marie Massey

Bonnie went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2021 in Canton, Texas. She was born in Malakoff, Texas to Edgar and Lillie Phillips.

Bonnie grew up in the Malakoff and Payne Springs area. She was married 62 wonderful years to J. W. Massey at his passing in 2008. She was a member of The Bible Baptist Church of Grand Saline and a longtime resident of the Phalba area. Bonnie loved cats and flowers, roses especially. She was a wonderful painter, spending many hours painting roses and flowers. Her paintings adorned her home. Bonnie was known for her cooking. Her grandchildren loved working the ranch with J. W. and coming to the house for the best meals. She loved to cook and put love into everything she cooked, from Thanksgiving to Christmas spreads to the best desserts and homemade candies. She filled her family with her cooking and her love. She leaves an empty place at the table and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Lillie Phillips; beloved husband, J. W. Massey; grandson, Jim Edward Massey.

Bonnie is survived by her sons, David Massey, James and Sandra Massey; grandchildren, Janice and Chris Miles, Chad and Minmae Massey, Chris and Haley Massey; great grandchildren, Jocelyn, Nathanael, Branson, Michael, Brantly, Haven and Bryson; and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Haven of Memories Cemetery in Canton, Texas.
