Billy came to know Christ thru his Baptist faith as a young man and is now with our Lord and Savior in heaven. The youngest of 7 children, he was born at home on Wynn Joyce Road in Garland, Dallas County, TX on December 17, 1926. He was a graduate of Garland High School class of 1944. Wounded in a hunting accident as a teenager, he was later drafted into the U.S. Army in 1950. After basic training, he was sent to Korea aboard the USS J. C. Breckinridge and served in the 25th Infantry Division with a combat engineer battalion during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army in 1956, he worked in the family water treating business in Dallas. He married his wife of 66 years, Barbara Dawn (Wharton) Ramsey of Garland in January 1958 and together they raised 3 sons in Garland. After retirement, he moved to Canton, TX in 1984 where he enjoyed spending time with his family, bass fishing, raising cattle and his beloved farm dogs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Virgil and Mary Etta (McCallum) Ramsey of Garland, TX and grandson James Jason Ramsey of Katy, TX. He is survived by his wife Barbara, sons James (Lauri) of Llano, TX, Stephen (Lisa) of Cedar Park, TX, and David (Renee’) of Lindale, TX; grandchildren Gail (Tyler Leach) Ramsey, Will (Lexi) Ramsey, Colton Ramsey, and Claire Ramsey; step-grandsons Dustin (Ashley) Gray and Taylor (Jennifer) Gray; and 3 step-great grandsons.
