Barbara Ellen Hill

Barbara Womble Hill, 86, passed on Sunday, December 10, 2023, in Eustace, TX. A graveside service, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, will be held 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the Chinquapin Cemetery in Eustace, TX., with Bro. Altos Womble officiating.

Barbara Womble Hill was born on July 13, 1937 in Eustace, TX and grew up on the family homestead. She settled in Mabank, TX where she spent the last 59 years of her life. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She spent her working years as a Drafting Specialist for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. During her time there she helped draft the telephone line blueprint for Dallas and surrounding areas. She spent her retirement years reading, watching soap operas, and attending her grandchildren’s school functions and sporting events with her husband, Charles.

Barbara lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. Her dishes and desserts were always the highlight of family gatherings. She also had a green thumb and loved tending to her garden and lawn, which was always in full bloom. She had a kind and generous soul, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas Richard Womble and Alta Oleta Womble; brothers Winston Dellos Womble and Delbert Eugene Womble; sister Beatrice Archer; and husband Charles Winford Hill, Sr.

She is survived by her brothers Eldon Womble and Altos Womble; her children Mark Wood, Sharon Wood and partner Margie Harner, Keith Wood and wife Keri Wood; her stepchildren, Bubba Hill and wife Kim Hill, Dana Hill Sebring; her grandchildren Christy Sanders and husband Art Sanders, Jason Wood, Ashleigh Wood and wife Katy Jordan, Kyle Wood and wife Kristen Wood, Kelci Brown and husband Ryan Brown, Jackson Hill; and great-grandchildren Tylyn Beall, Braxton Beall, Zackery Beall, Lathan Brown, Kase Wood.
