Susan Lynn Macioce

Age 74, of Canton, passed away on November 1, 2017 following an extended illness. She was born on May 18, 1943 at Mercy Medical Center to the late William and Beatrice Halter. She has been a resident of Canton, OH her entire life. Her father was an entrepreneur who owned several businesses, including a hotel. One of her greatest attributes, her strong work ethic, can be attributed to her father.

Susan graduated from Jackson High School in 1961. She was a member of the Jackson High School band as one of the lead majorettes and baton twirlers. She worked nights at Ruslees Lounge and Restaurant in North Canton while attending the Mercy School of Nursing full-time during the day. Susan graduated #1 in her class from the Mercy School of Nursing in 1977. She began her nursing career as an Emergency Room RN at Mercy Medical Center and was later promoted to Nursing Manager in 1989. She finished her career as Manager of Nursing Information Systems in May 2005 after nearly thirty years of service at Mercy Medical. Susan’s greatest accomplishment is her loving family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and daughter. Her family meant everything to her, and she loved them all dearly.

Susan married Dick Macioce, her best friend and loyal companion, on June 26, 1982. Together, they share 8 children. In addition to her parents, Susan is preceded in death by her late husband, Larry Scheetz, and one grandchild, Shane Phillabaum. She is survived by her husband, Dick Macioce; their children Tom (Faith) Phillabaum, Brett (Deborah) Phillabaum, Brian (Mary) Phillabaum, Ron (Jenny) Scheetz, Faith (Michael) Barbato, Rick (Terri) Macioce, Sherry Macioce, and Mike Macioce; 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; brother Ron (Rachel) Halter of Denton, TX; sisters Nadine Clapper of Hartville, OH and Janet Westhoefer of Holiday, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 2427 Tuscarawas Street W, with Monsignor Frank Carfagna officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens at 2:00 p.m. Friends may call from 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home at 5000 Everhard Rd NW.
