She was born on October 31, 1945, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Roy F. McMillan, Sr. and Anne L. (Carr) McMillan.
In 1963, Sue graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and the Association for Childhood Education. She spent her professional life as a licensed social worker - working as an elementary school teacher, a childcare trainer for the Summit County Department of Human Services and an independent trainer and consultant specializing in the use of humor. She was a compassionate helper and a fierce advocate.
Along with her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her brother, Roy McMillan, and her beloved husband, J. David Bratton. She and David spent 44 years together - building a home as members of the Glenmoor Country Club, traveling the world, golfing and being active in their community. Sue was a passionate supporter of the arts - serving as a member of the Canton Fine Arts Association for many years and volunteering with The Canton Museum of Art. She was an avid reader, a member of a longstanding book club, a music fan and an animal lover.
Sue was playful, kind-hearted, generous, and had a gift for making people laugh. Her quick wit and adventuresome spirit brought an energy that could light up any room. She will be deeply missed. In her memory, we ask you to hug those closest to you and laugh hard every chance you get.
Sue is survived by her daughters Christine and Jenn (Ryan); grandchild Antigone; and many other family members and friends.
Friends may call between 5:00 to 7:00pm on Friday, March 14th at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. There will be a private burial for family at North Lawn Cemetery in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Sue's name to the charity of your choice.
