Ron was born in Melrose Park, IL on August 4, 1943 to the late Vernon and Ann (Cimino) Jeskey. He graduated from Proviso High School in 1961. On September 5, 1964, he married Elinor (Zilic) Jeskey with whom he shared 57 years of marriage before his passing. Ron retired from the Stark County Sheriff’s Office in 2000, where he was employed as a deputy and detective for 25 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Ron was a very loving and generous person who enjoyed entertaining, playing cards, and travelling. He loved wildlife and was passionate about supporting wildlife organizations as well as animal shelters. Ron’s favorite pastime was sitting in his driveway with his dogs, Corey and Missy, feeding the squirrels, and waving at passersby. He loved and lived his life his way.
Along with his loving wife, Elinor, Ron is survived by two daughters, Ana (Tim) Phillips and Debi (Dirck) Davis, three grandchildren, Alexandra (Scottie Saba) Podnar and Chase and Blake Davis, two great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Lincoln Saba, one brother, Gerald (Bobette) Jeskey, loving nieces and nephews, and many cousins who were like siblings to him.
Along with his parents, Ron is preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Jean Jeskey.
Calling hours will take place at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. A cremation will then take place and the family will have a Celebration of Life for Ron at a later date.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to the Cleveland Clinic LVAD team and staff, to Dr. Ataul Qureshi and his staff, and to Dr. Steven Kelly for the care they provided to Ron. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made in Ron’s name to any local animal shelter that the donor chooses.
