Rebecca “Becky” Kay Corbit (nee Murphy) 1958-2017, age 58, of Perry Township, passed away Good Friday morning, April 14,2017 at St. Luke Lutheran Home. Becky fought a courageous battle with liver and bile duct cancer after being diagnosed on August 1, 2016. She demonstrated a tremendous strength in spirit from her first hospital admission until she went peacefully home, surrounded by her family, and entered the presence of her Savior.
She was born on November 12, 1958 in Canton, Ohio, to Richard and Marian Murphy. She was a graduate of Central Christian High School, class of 1977. She faithfully attended Canton Baptist Temple; served as President of the Friends of Heritage (parent teacher organization) of Heritage Christian School; and was co-owner of Corbit’s Flower & Gift Shop on Whipple Ave. Motherhood was her greatest passion, and she derived her greatest joy from all of her children. The birth of her three children fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a mother. She nurtured and cared for her children while on earth, and continues to watch over them as they carry on her legacy of love.
Becky is survived by both of her parents, Richard and Marian Murphy; her husband of 27 years Rick; and her three children Daniel (Kalene), Joe, and Katie. A loving aunt of seven nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brothers, Brian Murphy of Shaker Heights and David Murphy of Columbus.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday at Canton Baptist Temple, 515 Whipple Ave NW., Canton, OH, with Pastor Mike Frazier officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 9-11am Tuesday, two hours before services at the church. Special thanks to the staff of St. Luke Lutheran Community and Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Camp CHOF program of Canton Baptist Temple. Arrangements under the direction of Karlo-Libby Funeral Home.
