Maxine R. Baker, age 89, passed away on to her heavenly home on November 19, 2014 in Massillon, Ohio. She was born in Canton, Ohio on March 12, 1925 to Floyd and Della Robinson. Maxine was a Florida resident for 60 years and loved being a Floridian. For many years she was involved with The Bath Club’s Dancing Women’s group and performed for many occasions. Maxine was also an artist and taught painting classes. She took great pride in teaching others how to transform a plain shirt or sweatshirt into something creative and beautiful. Maxine was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Seminole, Florida.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Earl Baker; her sweet baby boy, Thomas Baker; her loving parents; and precious sister, Donna Barber, and special nephew, Paul (Bud) Barber, Jr. . Surviving Maxine is her loving sister, Dorothy J. Horgas her devoted niece, Jeannie Smyth; other special nieces and nephews, Polly and Doug Cranwell of New Jersey, Chris and Debbie Barber of Pennsylvania, Kelly and Brian Wargo of Kansas, Tim and Celia Barber of Pennsylvania and Mrs. Paul Barber, Jr. of Pennsylvania.
She was a gentle, loving soul and will be deeply missed by her family here on this side of heaven, but was welcomed with open arms by her Savior and her loved ones. It was her wish to be cremated and have her ashes scattered over the Florida ocean where she most loved to be.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at The Inn at Belden Village for all the love and care they gave Maxine. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Maxine’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
