She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and St. John College with a baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Religious Education. She loved her first graders as an Elementary Education Teacher in Bay Village, Ohio and her work as Director of Religious Education in Smyrna, Georgia as well as parishes in the Akron/Cleveland and Youngstown areas. She also taught high school religious education in the Akron area.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Clementine Melchior, her brother Joseph Melchior Jr, and her sister Lynita Fockler. She is remembered by her brother William Melchior of Orlando, Fl., and a sister Charlene Melchior of Phoenix, AZ. as well as 12 nieces and nephews and their families. She loved her family and the companionship of good friends. Mary Jane enjoyed the beauty of nature, had an avid interest in sports and keen interest in politics. Appreciation is extended to all those who cared for her, especially in the last months of her life.
Due to covid-19 there will be a private burial with a celebration of life held in the coming months. Family members and friends will be contacted when plans are complete.
