Lorna Grace Marlene Cosman Stallings, 83, of North Canton, OH, returned to the loving arms of her Father in Heaven on the evening of June 6, 2024, surrounded by her husband of 56 years and other family members.
Lorna was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, to John and Lena Cosman of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, Canada, on August 19, 1940. When Lorna was eight years old, her family was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to which she remained faithful her entire life. She spoke often of the missionary couple who found and converted her family, Evan and Ruth Memmott, whom she dearly loved.
After High School, Lorna attended UNB Teachers College, receiving her teaching certificate, and quickly started a career in teaching that she truly loved. She later decided to serve the Lord as a missionary herself, serving for 18 months as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sacramento, California.
Upon returning home to New Brunswick, she eventually met the man whom she would marry, Glenn LeRoy Stallings, who was a missionary there. Lorna and Glenn were married and sealed for time and all eternity on August 22, 1968 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They then settled in Shreveport, Louisiana (where Glenn was from) to build a life together. It was there she became a loving mother to four children: Johnathan Ray of North Canton, OH, Mary Beth (Eric) Niemeyer of North Canton, OH, Tina Marie (Darren) Downey of Hampton, NB, Canada, and David Glenn (Angela) of Herriman, UT. At the time of her passing, Lorna was the proud Nana to Gavin, Talin, Ammon, Marliebeth, Dillon, BriEllen, Andrew, Caroline, Brooke, Kaylia, Tanner, Hunter, Hallie, Easton, and Colton, and great-grandmother to Afton.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Betty Hughes, whom Lorna absolutely adored. She is survived by her husband, Glenn, her children and grandchildren, and her older brother (for whom she had the utmost respect) Glendon Cosman (Diane) of Grand Bay-Westfield.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in North Canton, OH, for Lorna’s immediate family members.
