Lois was born in Canton, Ohio to the late Karl and Naomi Swallen. She graduated from Lehman High School and worked at the Timken Roller Bearing Company until she married Earl “Red” Richey who she met at the Meyers Lake Moonlight Ballroom. In 1980, she and Earl moved to Bradenton, Florida. Lois loved their life in Florida. She was an avid golfer, scoring her first hole-in-one at age 87. If she wasn’t on the golf course or exercising in the pool, you could find her sitting at the bridge table or out for dinner and cocktails with her friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; two brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Ruth of Louisville, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, David and Cindy Richey of North Canton, Ohio; grandchildren, Katie (Eric) Wyskiver of Missoula, Montana, and Lindy Ruth of Glacier National Park, Montana; great-granddaughter, Mollie Wyskiver; and special sister-in-law, Vera Richey of Bradenton, Florida.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the kind staff of the fourth floor Mercy Medical Center, St. Luke’s, and Mercy Medical Hospice Care. Arrangements under the direction of Karlo-Libby Funeral Home.
