He was born July 30, 1939 in Strasburg, Ohio to the late Boyd Mayford and Rebecca Jane (Inhearst) Halsey. Leland attended Waynesburg Elementary School and Sandy Valley High School. He worked at and retired from Conrail and CSX Railroad. Leland was a member of The Carrollton Seventh Day Adventist Church. He loved playing the accordion and was a member of many music groups including The Sands of Time. Leland was a 32nd Degree Mason from the William H. Hoover Lodge #770. He was a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Great-Great-Grandfather, Provider, and Friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Maralyn Sue Halsey; daughter, Dena Fether; brother, Jerry Halsey; sister, Connie Ruppert; and daughter-in-law, Tami Halsey. Leland is survived by his sons, Bruce (Cheryl) Halsey, and Eric Halsey; daughter, Johnna (Gareth) Shepherd; five grandsons; six granddaughters; many great-grandsons and great-granddaughters; and one great-great-grandson.
A private burial will take place in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to The Carrollton Seventh Day Adventist Church, 450 12th Street NW, Carrollton, OH 44615.
