Joan L. (Schroeder) Byrd

Age 91 of North Canton, passed away on November 11, 2023 at Sanctuary Grande. She was born in Canton on August 17, 1932 to the late Frank and Grace Schroeder. She was a proud 1950 graduate of Timken Vocational School where she played in the band. She was employed as a computer operator with the United Methodist Conference Credit Union before her retirement. Joan was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in North Canton and sang in the choir for many years. She was a member of Canton Quilt Guild, Timken Alumni Association, and was a retired volunteer at Mercy Medical Center. Joan enjoyed sewing, especially making quilts. Also, she loved to make soup and shared it with many friends. She will always be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles after 49 ½ years of

marriage in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her son, Randy, two sisters, Betty Wendling and Dorothy Barnett, and one brother, Paul Schroeder. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Mike Bennett, two granddaughters, Lindsay Bennett and Rachel Byrd, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 4pm on Monday, November 20th with one hour of visitation prior at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Road NW, Canton, Ohio 44718.

Private entombment will take place in Sunset Hills Burial Park. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Sanctuary Grande in North Canton, especially nurse Lisa, and the exceptional staff from Absolute Hospice for the extensive comfort care provided.
