Age 76, passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2022 in hospice care at The Lantern of Chagrin Valley.
Known to his many golfing friends and business associates as “Jimmy”, he was born on November 2nd, 1945 in Akron Ohio to Lois Alice (Houston) and James Thomas Carter and attended Akron Hower Vocational High School where he met and married the love of his life, Shirley (Coda) Carter.
After high school, Jim trained as a machinist for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, but ultimately followed his true passion in life as a salesman for the Superior Business Forms company. Always striving to make a better life for his growing family, Jim set out on his own creating two successful businesses in Akron, Future Graphics Inc. and Business Forms Plus Inc.
An avid golfer and long time member of Glenmoor & Ohio Prestwick Country Club, Jim was a true sports fan who followed the Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers and Browns. He was a devoted family man who cherished his long and happy 51 year marriage while raising their 3 daughters, Christine (Mike) Sicker of the Woodlands, TX, Jennifer (Jeff) Ulmen of Boise, ID and Danielle Scharf of Parma, OH. Jim and Shirley were blessed with 9 grandchildren, Logan, William, Nathan, Nicholas, Jessica, Gianna, Rosalia, Luca, and Rocco.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; mother, Lois; father, James; and step-father, James Walters.
A graveside ceremony will be held in private at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Frank Road in North Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or online at www.alz.org.
