Gerald R. Werner

Gerald R. “Jerry” Werner, age 74, went to be with the Lord after an extended illness on May 10, 2014. He was born June 27, 1939 to the late Ralph and Catherine (Frank) Werner. He is a graduate of Jackson High School’s class of 1957. Jerry retired at the end of 2005 after working 52 years at Sunset Hills Burial Park and Memory Gardens and is a SCI Hall of Fame Recipient. He is a member of Open Door Baptist Church, Canton Rotary, and Past President of the Ohio Association of Cemeteries. He also served as a Jackson Township Trustee and was on the Zoning Board of Appeal.

He is preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Werner. Jerry is Survived by his wife, Della (Copley) Werner; son, John Werner of Texas; sister, Donna Rayburn of Florida; four step-children, Randy (Julie) Bush of Columbus, OH, Charlotte Bush of Milford, CT, Melissa (Scott) Grimm of Canton, OH, Eric (Sarah) Bush of Apex, NC, and eight grandchildren, Scott Werner, Michael, Jessica, Nathaniel, Hannah, Abbey, Alex, and Riley.

He will be remembered for his willingness to help others and how much he loved his family. A special thanks to Community Hospice, and all the wonderful people who helped, and for the many prayers.

Karlo-Libby Funeral Home is entrusted with Jerry’s care and friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the funeral home and from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday prior to the funeral service at the church. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Open Door Baptist Church on Market Ave in North Canton with Pastor Robert Butterfield officiating. Jerry will be laid to rest at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens on Frank Rd. in North Canton.
