Donald G. Wingard, age 66 of Canton, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born April 17, 1944 to the late Bernard and Josephine (Kemper) Wingard in Canton. Donald served our country in the U.S. Marine Corp during Vietnam from 1966-1968, was a 1962 graduate of Hoover High School and attended Kent State University. He is retired from North Canton Fire Dept. and the Hoover Company after 37 years of service. Donald also worked at Rice’s Nursery, was a member of the Flying Tiger Snowmobile Club and Theophilus Bible Church.
He is survived by his loving wife Karen (Messerly) Wingard of the home, son Tige (Missy) Wingard of Massillon; sister Sally (Andrew) Franzen; neice Jennifer Franzen all of Sandusky; brother-in-law Ed (Valane) Messerly; neice Abby Messerly of North Canton; grandsons Michael and Chris Burke of Massillon.
Funeral service will be held 11am on Monday, December 13, 2010 at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd. NW, Canton with Pastor Todd Shilling officiating. Friends will be received 1-3pm and 6-8pm on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at the funeral home and one hour prior (10-11am) to the service on Monday. Interment in North Lawn Cemerery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park, 8005 Cleveland-Massillon Road, Clinton, OH 44216 or Theophilus Bible Church, 161 Belvoir Dr NE, East Canton OH 44730.
