Delores E. Schweitzer

She was born August 14, 1926 in Canal Fulton, OH to the late Roy and Rose (Landefeld) Lindsay. She was a graduate from Canal Fulton High School in 1944. Delores married Dale Schweitzer in 1948, who was the love of her life. They met each other working at the Hoover Company in North Canton. They would have three children, Bruce, Kathy, and Denise and remain married until his death in 2009.

Family celebrations were always an important part of her life. She enjoyed cheering for her grandchildren at their sporting events, having birthday parties, and holiday celebrations. She really loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Another love that Delores had was gardening. She was Past President of the Canton Garden Center in 1987; an active member of the North Canton Garden Club, and was active in Garden Club of Ohio. She also loved to travel. Dale and Delores were able to travel to Europe, and to see a lot of the continental U.S. and Hawaii. She always said Hawaii was her favorite. Delores was also devoted to her church, Zion United Church of Christ in North Canton, and would frequently volunteer in the church office. She also enjoyed watching all the deer in her backyard, and the birds, and a turkey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale H. Schweitzer; son, Bruce Schweitzer; siblings, Clifford (Shirley) Lindsay, Henry (Maxine) Lindsay, Helen (Bernard) Shoemaker, and Roland Lindsay.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Tom) Cameron, of Hilliard, OH, and Denise (Tom) Hoch, of Perry Twp; daughter-in-law, Elaine Schweitzer, of Rotunda West, FL; grandchildren, Jason (Dorothy) Schweitzer, Jeremy (Becca) Schweitzer, Joe Schweitzer, Chris Cameron, Zoe Hoch, and Holly Hoch; seven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Linda Lindsay.

A visitation for Delores will be held Monday, October 10, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd NW, Canton, Ohio 44718. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home.
