Charles was born in Canton, OH on October 20, 1931 the son of the late Clancy and Ena Hurst. Charlie was a life resident of the Canton area and a 1949 graduate of Canton South High School. He was employed as a printer at The Klingstedt Brothers and Holsing Lithograph. He was a faithful member of the Eleventh Street Church of God for over 60 years singing in the choir, repairing anything that needed fixed, mentoring young people in the faith, teaching Sunday School, serving as an Elder and Assistant Treasurer. Known to be a consummate jokester, he loved making others laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn to whom he was married for 68 years; three children and their spouses, Tamra Hurst and Daryl Eshelman and Mark (Georgia) Hurst all of Canton, and Brent (Valeri) Hurst of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Lloyd (Maiya) Eshelman, Laura (Sean) Adkins, William, Julia, Averi, and Elaina Hurst; one brother-in-law, Richard Kramer; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and their wives, Roy and Norma Hurst, Harold and June Hurst, Fred and Mabel Hurst; sister-in-law Ruth Kramer; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Road NW, Canton, OH, on Friday, July 1, with the Rev. Randy Shafer officiating. Service will begin at 3:00pm with calling hours one hour before. Charlie donated his body to the Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, OH continuing his lifelong dedication to helping others.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Eleventh Street Church of God building fund.
