Beloved husband of Dayle N. (Rosenberg) Cross. Devoted and proud father of William I. Cross and Michael L. Cross. Adoring grandfather to Madeline Mercier. Loving brother of the late Dr. Edward M. Cross (Anna Marie), the late William F. Cross, the late John D. Cross (Cheryl), and sister-in-law Arlene Klotz (Melvin). He leaves two beautiful nieces, Amy Klotz (David Terry) and Kedron Fix (Derek). Thomas is predeceased by his parents, Dr. Morris Cross and Emma (Meyerhoff) Cross.
Thomas grew up in Randolph, MA, and graduated from Thayer Academy and the first graduating class of Boston University School of Engineering. He became a software engineer when the field was just starting and was an early pioneer of computer printing software. Thomas built and programmed commercial word processors of his own design prior to the advent of personal computers.
He was an avid marksman and a lifetime member of Woburn Sportsman's Association. He enjoyed many other hobbies including sailing, fishing, ham radio with an Expert's license, and building and flying model airplanes. He enjoyed building many working models of steam engines in his home machine shop as well as playing guitar (see YOUTUBE "ShortHandTom").
Funeral services will be Monday, May 1 at 10:00 AM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton. Interment at Sharon Memorial Park. Funeral services will be officiated by Alfred Benjamin, Rabbi of Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills.
