A Brooklyn native, he resided for more than fifty years in Fair Lawn, NY, before moving to Sharon, MA. Nathan was a beloved husband, proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter Carolyn Karten and husband Louis, son Daniel Marcus and wife Patty, and eight grandchildren: Jordan, Adam, Sarah, Noah, Maya, Aaron, Jared and Edward.
Nathan was the happiest with the time he spent with his wife, Ruth. The favorite things they did together were dancing, going out with friends, spending time with their family and grandchildren, and staying in to watch TV. Nathan only needed his Ruthie to make him the happiest. They were a couple that most people want to be.
His kind nature and always worrying first about others made Nathan the person he was and the person that people wanted to be around. Anyone that met him either early in his life or later on, had the same feeling. He never wanted people to fuss over him, and he was always grateful and humble for anything anyone would do for him.
His zest for life and all its beauty spread from family and friends, to all those who met him. Nathan loved to sing, watch the news; CNN was his favorite read, and was always eager to learn. He was a very intelligent person and always explained things to others so they could also learn. Nathan always made silly faces and told jokes as a way to soften any situation and to make people continue to smile around him.
You could always count on Nathan waiting up for his kids until he knew they were home and the entire family was safe. He always did things quietly and with such elegance that you didn't even know he was doing things to help his family and other people. He was so humble and for all who were fortunate enough to know Nathan, they experienced the valuable lessons his life taught: it is about joy, care and devotion and living each day to the fullest with the ones you love.
A service celebrating Nathan’s life will be held on Sunday, October 8th at 12:45 PM at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon.
