She was the beloved wife of the late Joel Burak.
Born in Boston, MA, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Abraham and Doris (Factor) Daven. She is survived by her brother, Joel Daven and his wife Jennifer.
Also left to cherish her memory are her son, Larry Burak and his wife Judy, her daughter, Robin Stevens and her husband Michael, grandchildren Alexandra and Steven Burak, nephew Ryan Daven and his wife Ligita, and niece Alyssa Daven. Lorraine was also fortunate to be a "second mom" to so many of Larry and Robin's friends as they were growing up in Quincy. She was always at the table as the kids gathered at 87 Unity Street before their night on the town. Later, she was welcomed into, and enjoyed spending holiday time with Judy's family...the Renaccio's. So many fun parties and holiday memories together.
Lorraine was raised in Dorcester, MA and was involved in many organizations in high school. At the tender age of 19, Lorraine married her high-school sweetheart, Joel Burak. Soon after they moved from Mattapan and built a new house and life together in Quincy. It took less than two years for their first child, Robin to arrive, then Larry a couple of years later. Lorraine and Joel had a wonderful life together, raising their family until it was cut short by Joel's passing at age 62.
Lorraine was known as a great organizer and ran many social events. In most cases, she was the life of the party. When Lorraine’s children were older she went back to nursing school and received her RN certification. She enjoyed working in hospitals and private duty, taking care of both babies and elder patients.
In her spare time, Lorraine enjoyed playing bridge and Mahjong with her friends, as well as being involved with B’Nai Brith and the young couples club at the temple.
Later in her life she moved to Florida and met up with Ernie Goldschmidt and they enjoyed 18 wonderful years together. Ernie adored Lorraine and treated her like a queen. They had many friends, activities, and the most active social calendar. Fortunately for Lorraine, she was welcomed into the Goldschmidt and Nabal families, and enjoyed spending time with Ernie's daughter Susan and husband Kenny Nabal, along with their children, Resa and Andrew. Many happy times going to dinner, playing at home, and dodging hurricanes together!
Lorraine also spent her time and energy with the Pretty in Pink Cancer Charity at Gleneagles Country Club, running events to help raise money for cancer research.
Lorraine's final chapter in her life brought her to Brightview Senior Living in Canton, MA. There, with her memory fading, she was welcomed in, quickly becoming the "bright light" of Brightview. She danced and sang every day and met her final boyfriend Fran, whom she spent every breakfast, lunch, and dinner beside.
Most of all, Lorraine will be remembered for her bright smile, and her love of her family, always interested, proud, and gushing about the accomplishments of her brother, her children, and especially her grandchildren. Lorraine may be gone from our sight, but forever in our hearts.......
Graveside services at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, MA will be private.
Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 or online at www.alz.org/manh.
