Lee was born on May 8, 1952, and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Boston Latin School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Union College.
He was the son of the late Isadore and Gladys (Press) Plovnick. He leaves behind his wife Jacqueline M. Bolen of California, his sister Josephine Plovnick Salloway, his brother-in-law Richard B. Salloway of Braintree, Massachusetts, and his nephew Matthew Salloway of Manhattan, New York.
Lee worked for over 40 years as a mechanical engineer and technical project manager including for the Department of Defense, General Electric, Union Carbide and provided engineering and consulting services for a variety of clients in California.
Additionally, Lee was an adventurer, who participated in such activities as taking flying lessons, riding in a hot air balloon, and proposing to his wife on an air ship out of Moffett Field, California, also with dreams of travelling overseas -- starting with a honeymoon in France, on a riverboat or barge.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 31st at 10:00 AM at the Sharon Memorial Park Chapel, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA, followed by interment at Sharon Memorial Park. The chapel service is accessible via livestream at www.tinyurl.com/Leon-Plovnick-Service
