Joel "Dick" Richard Bloom

Beloved husband of 58 years of the late Renee (Saphire) Bloom. Devoted father of Jeffrey Bloom and his wife Lisa, and Gary Bloom. Loving brother of the late Betsey (Bloom) Sorin. Endeared brother-in-law of the late Leonard Sorin, Gerald Saphire and his wife Roberta, Phyllis (Saphire) Feinstein, and Roni (Saphire) Cohen and her husband David. Cherished father-in-law of Lauren Austin Smith and grandfather of Taylor Bloom. Treasured uncle of Russell Sorin and his wife Jillian, the late Steven Sorin, Jonathan Saphire and his wife Amie, Laura Alexis (Saphire) Breyer and her husband Mark, and Jason Saphire and his wife Alex.

Dick was born in 1934 to David and Eunice (Rubin) Bloom and grew up in Boston. He served in the army and is a veteran of the Korean War. Although he hated school, he was proficient at studying and research; he knew more about vitamins and nutrition than most doctors. He loved playing chess and watching Netflix.

Dick was blessed to have two great loves in his life. He adored his wife Renee Bloom for almost 60 years. After her passing, he found new joy with Anita Tomaselli.

Services on Sunday, January 15th at 1:00 PM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton. Interment with military honors to follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Shiva to follow at a private home.
