Ele was born in New York City to Jeanne and Irving Reiss on October 3, 1938. She grew up in Newark, NJ, where she attended Weequahic High School, graduating in 1956. After raising three daughters in Needham, MA, she went back to school and graduated summa cum laude from the University of New Hampshire in 1989. She worked as an addictions counselor at the New Start program at Saint Joseph Hospital in Nashua, NH. Ele was a poet and sketch artist. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Ele is survived by her husband, Dennis Strahan of Newton, MA; her daughters Nina Richmond and her late husband Henry Richmond, Ilisa Clark, and Lori McCarthy and her late husband John McCarthy; her grandchildren Bradley Clark, Amanda Clark, Meghan Hall and Rachel Hall, her brother Barry Reiss, nephew Mitchell Reiss and niece Andrea Weiss.
Funeral Service will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 1:00PM. The service in the chapel will be live streamed at: http://tinyurl.com/Eleanor-Reiss-Strahan
Interment will take place at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon. A reception will be held immediately following at Beacons in East Walpole.
Shiva will be on Saturday evening from 5:30-8:30PM at the Woodland Station Apartments, 1940 Washington Street, Newton. Parking is available at the Woodland Station T garage at the end of the drive.
