Donald Morton Silver, age 92 Years Old (March 17, 1932 - March 28, 2024) of Natick, Massachusetts and Aventura Florida died peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Donald was the son of Hannah and David Silver of Brookline, Massachusetts. He leaves behind his Wife, Elaine - the love of his life of 68 Years. His three children: Howard Silver and his partner Jill Schulman and his son Evan Silver, Mark Silver and his wife Alison and their children David and Abby Silver, Sheryl Birenbaum and her lifelong partner, Mark Singer and her children Andrew and his wife Amanda, Steven, Amelia and her husband Brad as well as 4 great-grandchildren: Riley, Chase, Logan and Theo.
To say that he lived a full life would be truly an understatement. He and his wife Elaine created an amazing legacy.
He graduated Brookline High School and then went on to Brown University where he graduated with Honors. He was one of a handful of classmates that attended his 70th Reunion at Brown University with his Wife Elaine!
After college he attended the OCS and became an Officer in the US Navy. He served in the Korean Conflict as a Senior Gunner on the USS Hugh Purvis DD 709. He received an Honorable Discharge.
While in the Navy he married his sweetheart, Elaine and went into business with his father at Donna Louise of Boston. He designed, manufactured and sold ladies blouses for his entire career. In 1984 they closed the business, and he retired to do all of the things that he enjoyed. He and his wife wintered in Florida and traveled the World for over 40 Years.
He was a leader in the fund raising for the fight against Juvenile Diabetes creating the “Main Event” - an annual fundraiser which raised well over $1,000,000 to find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes.
He had a passion for tennis that started at age 8, and he played until he was 91. He orchestrated most games for the groups in Natick and Miami. He loved tennis like few others, and was more than dedicated to his daily game. Another passion was the ocean and boating which he enjoyed with his entire family. This started when his parents bought him his first skiff. His love of the ocean continued for over 6 decades that included trips to Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and the Elizabethan Islands. He was an avid water skier and instilled this passion in all of his children. Donald and Elaine loved their nightly dining rotation that became their way of life, and they were certainly well known and welcomed everywhere they went. He showed up to most restaurants wearing the logo shirt that they had given him.
Donald lived life to the fullest, and will be truly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 3rd at 10 AM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
Shiva will be immediately following the burial at the residence of Howard Silver of Natick until 8 PM with a Minyan at 7 PM and Thursday, April 4th at the residence of Amelia and Brad Linehan of Peabody from 3 to 8 PM with a Minyan at 7 PM.
