Donald H. Kuperman passed away peacefully at his home in Hanover on Saturday, April 12, 2025, with his daughter Susan by his side, gently pressing her cheek to his and whispering that he was loved and everything was going to be okay. In the days leading up to his passing, he was surrounded by the love of family and close friends. Don suffered from cerebral amyloid angiopathy and vascular dementia over the past year.
Born on June 5, 1941, in Boston, Don was the son of Nathan and Miriam (Friedman) Kuperman and was raised in Quincy alongside his sister, Roberta. He met the love of his life, Lorraine (Strunk), and they were married in May 1968. The couple eventually made their home in Randolph, where they built a life filled with love and family. It was Lorraine who encouraged Don to return to school and earn his diploma in his late twenties, a testament to their shared support and devotion.
Don spent many years working as a local real estate appraiser and for the U.S. Department of Defense. He and Lorraine cherished their time together, whether it was annual family vacations with their daughter and her best friend, Heather Pascarelli (Fedrick), or their later trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Foxwoods, and Mohegan Sun.
Though school was never his favorite place, Don’s passion for music was unmatched. A talented multi-instrumentalist, especially skilled on the trumpet, he composed music, taught high school band, and performed at countless weddings and events as part of the band, T.H. & Co. His love of music remained a cornerstone of his identity.
Don will be lovingly remembered for his deep appreciation of all things Disney, his enthusiasm for science fiction (particularly Star Trek), his fascination with ancient history, and most delightfully, his unexpected but wholehearted embrace of Irish culture. From learning the language, customs, and music, he earned the affectionate nickname “Don McKuperman”.
Ever the character, Don was always ready with a dad joke or an off-kilter comment, often making his family laugh—or lovingly roll their eyes. Never one to let age stand in his way, he loved adventure, taking joyrides in an official NASCAR racecar several times, flying a small plane (without telling his daughter until afterward), and even traveling to Ireland with a group of strangers in his 70s - twice.
Don is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Lorraine; his daughter from a previous marriage, Diane Kuperman; his parents; and his sister, Roberta (Kuperman) Carlin. He leaves behind his devoted daughter and caregiver, Susan Kuperman Aikins, her husband Michael Aikins of Hanover, and their two sons, Max and Dillon, who will miss their Papa’s humor and support. He is also survived by his granddaughter from Diane, Nicole Gonzalez (Slocum), and her four children, Don’s great-grandchildren; as well as his half-sister, Arlene (Kuperman) Edwards of Florida.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 12 PM, at Hanover Center Cemetery, 47 Main Street, Hanover. A gathering will take place at the family home immediately following the burial until 8 PM, and continuing on Friday from 12 to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's name, may be made to the Arthritis Foundation at www.arthritis.org
