Wallace Evan Cawelti was born June 9th, 1923 in Sawtelle California to William J. Cawelti (Deceased) & Irene M. Cawelti (Deceased). He was a 4th generation descendant of a pioneer family of Santa Barbara & Ventura County. Wallace moved to Woodland Hills California when he was 6 months old. He attended Woodland Hills Elementary, and was in Canoga Park High School's class of 1943. While attending Canoga Park High School he was a member and star of the high school's first golf team. Wallace joined the United States Coast Guard during World War ll, and spent four years in the Pacific and China. Soon after returning home from war he met and married his lifetime sweet heart Lila May Cooper on March 18th, 1947. Together Wallace & Lila had two sons Wallace Evan Cawelti Jr. (Deceased) & Craig Cary Cawelti. Wallace owned and operated multiple auto repair companies for over 60 years in the San Fernando Valley. Wallace's favorite pastime besides spending time with his family was his passion for golf. His amateur golf status carried him through to runner up at the State Amateur Championship. Wallace also was club champion at Woodland Hills Country Club for 17 years and had seven hole-in-one's. Woodland Hills Country Club honored Wallace by naming their club championship trophy after him. He was a long time member of The Valley Businessmen's Golf Assoc., and won their championship as well. On March 15th, 2011 Wallace passed away due to his complications with lung cancer at his home in Woodland Hills surrounded by his family. Wallace is survived by his wife Lila May Cawelti, son Craig Cary Cawelti (Siena Cawelti), granddaughter Ciji Anna Cawelti Morgan (Christopher Cameron Morgan), and two great grandsons Carson Cameron Cawelti Morgan & Cooper Cary Cawelti Morgan, aunt Esther Serrano and various nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to specifically thank Vitas Hospice, Wallace's "adopted son & daughter" Charles & Cheri Falcone, and Wallace's grandson-in-law Christopher Cameron Morgan for their generous love and compassion.

The visitation will be this Thursday March 24th, 2011 from 5pm-8pm at Gates, Kingsley & Gates Praiswater Mortuary 6909 Canoga Ave. Canoga Park, CA 91303. The funeral service will be Friday March 25th, 2011 at 12:30 pm at The Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery 22601 Lassen Street CA 91311
