I met Roger on the first day of law school at The John Marshall Law School in August, 1981.  I was amazed that he knew several of my close high school friends, such as Jeff Noland, Lee Futch, and Ward Wittmeyer.  Jeff Noland was Roger's College roommate at the University Of Illinois, in Champaign/Urbana, Illinois.  Lee Futch was a very close friend of Jeff Noland's, who met Roger while visiting Jeff Noland at the University Of Illinois.  Lee Futch became a very close friend of Roger. My friend, Ward Wittmeyer, told me that in the mid 1970's he was on a long distance motor cycle tour of California,  when he met Roger at a car wash in Southern California.  Roger and Ward were both waiting to wash their motorcycles at the car wash.  They struck up a conversation, became friends,  and then Ward moved in with Roger, and stayed for several days.  Also, I recall that Roger was good friends with another on of my friends, Sturgis "Butch" Chadwick, who also attended The John Marshall Law School.

Roger was one of the smartest, nicest and friendliest guys I ever met in my life.  I am very sad to hear of his untimely passing.  I will never forget the good times we had together in Law School.

In memory of Roger, to all of his friends and family, please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.  Roger was a great person and I owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for giving me my opportunity to work with him as an attorney at Pillsbury.  In 2001, I lost my first-born daughter.  Roger stood by me and supported me throughout that year and throughout my early career and tenure at Pillsbury.  Without his kindness and mentoring I would not be where I am today.  I am eternally grateful for your friendship. I imagine Roger touched many lives in similar ways.  Roger you will surely be missed.  May you rest in peace.
