On September 12th 1954 Richard Vargas was brought into this world. He was born in Van Nuys, CA and raised in Canoga Park. He grew up as a Farm Worker and till his death could grow anything. He loved attending to his garden daily and would always give family/friends his homegrown fruits & vegetables. Richard loved Canoga Park with a passion! Most of all he loved the Canoga Park High Football team, even when his kids no longer attended, he would still go to the games. He also loved all other sports Baseball - Dodgers, Football – Raiders, Basketball – Lakers, Hockey – Kings, College - USC. He would go for a walk every day to Quimby Park, to read the newspaper. Richard was a man that knew no stranger, if he ran into someone, he would take the time to stop and talk. He had a huge heart of gold and always made sure everyone around him family or not was taken care of. If he only had $5 in his wallet and saw someone that could use, he’d give it to that person. While at the park, he would often give the homeless some food. He loved to take his family out to eat. He was adventurous, spontaneous, and traveled to other States/Countries. Family was the most important thing to him; his talks were never a lecture always a lesson. Although he had only three biological children (one daughter & two sons), whenever he was asked how many children do you have, he PROUDLY said six, three boys & three girls – the Mexican Brady Brunch. It was never a dull moment with Richard, he loved his beers and would become quit a character, his most iconic moments would be him howling like a wolf, saying “Annndy”, “Fire It Up”, “Suck Em Up”. One of his other infamous quotes” Gotta get up awfully early in the morning to pull a fast one on me…” Richard is survived by his six children, Michelle, Ruben, Victoria, Yolanda, Ricky, Brandon and his twelve grandchildren. One thing Richard always said was don’t cry for me when I’m gone, remember the good times we shared. Richard can finally rest with his parents, his brother Champ, his wife Diane and his Doodoo Brandy our dog whom also passed two weeks prior on 12/16/20.
