It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Albert Baber. Our father passed away on Monday, May 24th, just two weeks from his 88th birthday, succumbing to cancer. Dad was first diagnosed with cancer in 2000 and had beaten it until early 2007 when a new lung tumor was discovered, which resulted in his demise. Jim is survived by his three children: Holly Jump (from his first marriage); Karen Rasori and Tim Baber. He lost his loving wife of 47 years, Alberta Mae Baber in 2001. Jim is also survived by 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Jim was a graduate of the University of Southern California and received a degree in electrical engineering. He was also a World War II veteran of the Navy,a life-long ham radio buff, and a deep sea fisherman. After a rewarding 39-year career at Hughes Aircraft, Jim transitioned into retirement. He enjoyed spending time using his vast engineering skills to find solutions to tackle many of his DIY home projects. While it’s true Jim enjoyed watching college football and classic movies, he had a much deeper passion for cooking, baking, and eating, which appeared to be true to his heart. He also enjoyed spending time tending to his garden and working on his craftsman style home.
