Craig Eugene Burbidge

Craig Eugene Burbidge, age 69, of Los Angeles, CA passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023 after a short battle with an unknown lung condition. Craig was surrounded and held by his three children, family, and friends as he peacefully passed away.

Craig was born on August 23, 1953 in Boise, ID. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1971 and attended college in Boise, ID for Music and Education. In 1974 Craig packed his drum set in the back of his convertible MG-B and set out to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of making music.

Craig opened Foxy Music in 1979, an 8 track recording studio in Redondo Beach, CA and in 1987 opened Aire LA Studio in Glendale, CA where he recorded and mixed some of the most legendary and iconic artists in the 80’s and 90’s until it closed in 1997. After Aire LA’s closing, Craig continued to work as a recording engineer with large international artists both locally and overseas in Asia until his passing. Craig was an amazing engineer with a special ear that allowed him to mix music that had the “Burbidge Touch”. He mentored and helped many in the industry to get their start.

Above all, Craig was a caring and loving father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by many. He was a truly selfless person who was always willing to help others in need. He loved fishing, walking, hiking, and taking care of his dogs in his spare time.

Craig is survived by his three children, Jennifer (Anthony) Burbidge-Lugo, Jason (Farrah) Burbidge, and Luke Burbidge; his five grandchildren, Hailey Burbidge, Aliana Burbidge, Bella Lugo, Brixon Burbidge, and Roen Burbidge; his siblings, Alan Burbidge, Kent Burbidge, Melissa (Tony) Saddler, and Kristin Burbidge; his ex-wife and best friend Victoria Burbidge; and his longtime girlfriend Gerda Bercutt. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Burbidge; his mother, Romona Burbidge; his brother John Burbidge; and his sister Laura Aton.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Agoura Bible Fellowship, 5564 Foothill Drive, Agoura Hills, CA 91301. Pastor Scott LeLaCheur of Summit Christian Church in Tujunga, CA will officiate.
