After a 2 ½ year battle with cancer, Barry Weisman born May 28, 1943 , entered Heavens gates at the age of 67 on Friday May 20, 2011 in his home in West Hills, CA.
Barry was born to Max and Ana Weisman; established tailoring and hotel entrepreneurs and is survived by his sister Marlene. Barry moved to the Fairfax district of Los Angeles when he was 9 years old and graduated from Fairfax high school. Barry settled down in the San Fernando Valley and had a son and daughter, Alan & Kim whom he is survived by. He is also survived by Alicia Weisman and his 3 stepchildren. Alicia is his wife of over 28 years whom he fell in love with instantly and married after 3 months of meeting. Their love is everlasting. They have 10 grandchildren which he loved being around dearly.
Just as his father did, Barry had an entrepreneurial spirit and a continuing desire to learn new trades. Barry started his business experience managing the families’ hotel in Toluca Lake. During his lifetime he started and sold several businesses with his wife Alicia including a smoothie bar, check cashing, product marketing and distribution, real estate investing and residential care facilities for the elderly- which is currently operated by Elaine, his stepdaughter. In addition to his business acumens, Barry held licenses in X-Ray technology, Real Estate and Electronics. He enjoyed traveling and vacationing with his wife to Maui, Mexico, and the Philippines. He was very much a family man and attended almost every family function and was very supportive especially to his nephews, nieces and grandchildren. Always friendly and interested in spurring up conversation, Barry’s warm welcoming soul will never be forgotten by those who knew him and were blessed to have him in their life.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 12:00- 8:00 p.m.
Chapel Funeral Service, Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Gates, Kingsley & Gates, Praiswater (6909 Canoga Ave., Canoga Park, CA 91303
Burial will take place immediately following the service at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth.
