Born in Port Daniel, Quebec, on October 2, 1931, daughter of the late Edwin Arthur Sweetman and the late Helen Pearl McColm.
She enrolled in the Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Training School in Campbellton in 1953 and worked at the Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (SMH) as an RN for many years. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a caring grandmother.
She is survived by her 5 children: Kerry (Mira) Price of Mississauga; Kathie (Marc) Essiambre of New Glasgow; Gordon (Monika) Price of Hubley; Carolyn Price (Marcell Symonds) of Bedford; and Linda (Brian) Kearney of London; four sisters, Joyce (the late Norman) Galey of Fonthill; Irene (the late George) Peterkin of Perth; Shirley (the late Lorne) Sloan of Ottawa; and Carol (Peter) Almond of Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines; three brothers, Keith (the late Blandine) Sweetman, Port Daniel; Walter (Myrna) Sweetman of Ottawa; and Winston (Graciette Joseph) Sweetman of Port Daniel; her 6 grandchildren, Lauren and Justin Essiambre, Patrick (Kristen Kelly) and Sean (Jocelyn Clements) Kearney, and Cynthia and Nadia Price; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Howard; she was predeceased by her brother, Lennox (the late Vina).
A memorial service will be held at Maher’s Funeral Chapel, 64 Lansdowne Street, Campbellton, on Friday, November 19 at 2:00 p. m. Visitation at the Chapel one hour prior to service. A proof of double Covid-19 vaccination with an identification card will be taken at the entrance and masks will be required.
Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, CNIB Foundation, Campbellton Centennial Library or to the Campbellton Baptist Church would be appreciated by the family.
