Passed away peacefully on February 13, 2015, at the Veterans Unit of the Campbellton Regional Hospital, John (Jack) Gallant, husband of, first wife, the late Dorothy Poole and second wife, the late Alma Gallant. Born in Piusville, Prince Edward Island on November 4, 1914 to the late Priscilla (Doucette) and the late Joseph Gallant.
Following his military term in WW2, Jack moved to Brantford, Ontario where he met and married Dorothy and became father to her three young daughters. Following Dorothy’s death in 1962, Jack married Alma Gallant. Jack worked as a truck driver for 25 years at Harding Carpets before an injury caused him to stop working. He was very proud of his 25-year watch. Jack, Alma and Brian later moved back to Alma’s home territory and settled in Point a la Croix. Jack was always happiest with a dog by his side. He was a gentle man who led a simple life. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a smile for everyone. Jack spent the last few years of his life at the Veteran’s Ward of the Campbellton Regional Hospital. The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff who became his family.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his son, Brian Gallant; step-daughters, Joyce Carlson, Donna Wilson and Linda Vander Velde; grandchildren, Ryan Jack Wysote, Fayth Gallant, Jordan Sandford, Tracey Chenger, Trevor and Gordon Taylor, Rhonda Willis and Cathy Baker. He also leaves to morn, his great-grandson, Micah Joseph. Jack was predeceased by his parents and siblings.
A funeral mass will be held at Ste. Hélène Church, Pointe-à-la-Croix, QC, on February 17th, 2015 at 11 am.
