Jean is survived by her two daughters, Sally and Jill (Stephen Parker), her grandchildren, Olivia and Liam, her sisters, Isabel, Dorothy, Betty and Mary and her brothers, James and Ronnie. Jean was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) MacCallum, her sister, Patricia and brothers, Lawrence and Wayne.
Jean was born and raised in the Miramichi and studied in Saint John to become an X-ray technician. She settled in Campbellton where she worked at the Soldiers Memorial Hospital and later the Campbellton Regional Hospital. She was an active community member having volunteered for Meals on Wheels and participating in the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Jean was an active congregant in the United Church and served on church council for many years. She loved the Campbellton community and took part in the many local activities over the years such as bowling, curling and snowshoeing. After retirement, she took up bridge and greatly looked forward to her weekly games.
We would like to thank the amazing staff from 5C North at the Saint John Regional Hospital who provided exemplary final care to Jean. The staff of Chateau de Champlain, Kindred Home Health Care and the Saint John Extramural Hospital were also valued care providers to Jean.
At Jean’s request, no visitation or funeral will be held. We invite you to sign the online condolence book at Maher’s Funeral Home.
