Born on April 15, 1928 he was the son of the late Mabel Boudreau and John Mahoney.
In his early career, Harry was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy where he served as a parachute technician and also worked for the CNR. He then went on to work at T.R. Mackenzie for 46 years in home building and construction supplies.
Harry was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; family, friends, a good book, camping, time on the Restigouche River at the family cottage as well as seasonal maritime road trips with his brother and sister-in-law, Earle and Myrtle and his forever love and wife Viola.
He enjoyed carpentry as a profession and hobby, passing that love and talent on to his son Greg.
To all who knew Harry, it was his character and easy going manner that captivated your attention as well as your admiration.
Harry was the husband of 67 years to his beloved wife Viola (Flanagan); father to Deborah (Bernard) Spear and Gregory (Nancy) Mahoney; brother to Patrick (Carmelle) Mahoney; grandfather to Amanda (Ian) Paterson, Zachary Spear, Starr Payne Wadsworth (Dean) and Vincent Payne (Lina); great-grandfather to Logan Geraghty, Katelyn MacNeish Payne, Peyton Payne, Piper Payne and Gavin Paterson. Predeceased by his parents Mabel and John, siblings Geraldine, Reginald, Katherine and son-in-law Bernard spear.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to homecare workers Danielle, Richard and Ann for their loving care as time took hold of his health; as well as staff too numerous to mention at the Veterans Ward of the Campbellton Regional Hospital.
A Graveside Service will be held at the St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery in Campbellton, on Tuesday October 15th at 11:00 am.
Legion members of Campbellton branch # 19 and all members of the Royal Canadian Legion are asked to meet at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery at 11:00 am for Legion Service.
In Harry’s memory, donations may be made to the Veteran’s Ward to both honor him and all those who in time might require this exceptional care.
