Predeceased by her husband’s George Mahoney of Flatlands in 1975 and William (Bill) Irvine in 2009.
Daughter of the late Wilbur and Amanda (Leblanc) Sharpe of Squaw Cap New Brunswick. Edna was also pre deceased by two sisters, Shirley as an infant, Sister Helen Steeves (2001), Brothers Don Sharpe (1984), Wendell Sharpe (2004), Frank Sharpe (2008). She is survived by Daughters, Debra (Harry) (Mahoney) Ramlall. Janis (Mahoney) Burley and Partner Wayne Gilker. Edna is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Maryanne, Holly and Neil along with 5 great grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren. Two brothers , William (Carolyn) Sharpe of Winnipeg Manitoba and Howard (Shirley) Sharpe of Lethbridge, Alberta.
Edna was an active member with the CWL for over 50 years and in her pastime she loved to knit, sew, needlepoint and was a ferocious crib player along with of course her favorite, playing bridge, with her bridge group of friends. She worked at the Soldiers Memorial Hospital for 20 years on the site where the Villa is located and (ironically) had just moved in about a week before she died.
Special mention goes to Barb and Ann, sister-in law and friend who cared and were held very close to Edna’s heart. Mom was a second Mother to many nieces and nephews, Mike and Bernie Mahoney, Leah and Vernon Gouchie and her brother Howard.
Her nephew Terry summed it up just right, Edna was a real sweetheart to everyone she touched in her long lifespan. She will be dearly missed and we can all be relieved to know that she is in a better place and no longer suffering.
