Donat Savoie

He is survived by his wife Rita Lavallée-Savoie; 2 sons: Denis (Rachelle Guitard) of Eel River Crossing and Claude (Margaret Tucker) of Moncton; 1 daughter Anne (Darren Schofield) of Riverview; 6 grandchildren: Brian Savoie (Jenny Mercier), Kevin Savoie of Dieppe, Emilie (Doug Prince) of Moncton, Gabrielle & Rebecca Schofield of Riverview and Pam Tucker (Justin Cormier) of Moncton; 3 great-grandchildren: Nataniel Prince, Elodie & Eliana Savoie; His sisters and brothers: Imelda (late Randolph Parker) & Gilberte of Eel River Crossing, Simonne (Harvey Thompson) of Dorval, Qc., Rita (Tony Awad) of Fredericton, Gisele of Shediac, Paul-Émile ), Dominique (Rose Marie), Yvon (Rose Marie), Julien (Anne Marie), Ludger (Diane) and Bélonie (Monette) of Eel River Crossing; Elizabeth Lavallée-d'Entremont (Tom) of Nackawic, Floyd Lavallée (Yvonne Gaudet) of Cape Pelé, Walter Lavallée (Yvette Levesque) of Eel River Crossing, Yvonne Lavallée (Roger Levesque) Eel River Crossing and Yvon Lavallée (Louise Gervais) of Rockland, ON as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Leonard and Maurice; 1 sister Murielle and a sister-in-law Doris Lavallée-Savoie.

Donat was a founding member of Eel River Crossing Knights of Columbus # 6957 also 4th degree member # 1785. He was the godfather of Philip d'Entremont, Édith Lavallée and Debra Davidson. He worked part of his life in house building. The last 14 years before his retirement, he worked for A.L.P.A. of Balmoral. He was named Volunteer of the Year in 2014, Chevalier of the Year in 2013, several times Chevalier of the Month. One of his pastimes was playing pool. He was also a member of the Golden Age Club of Eel River Crossing. Since September 2015, he was a resident of the Dalhousie Nursing Home and the family would like to thank the staff for the good care that Mr. Donat has received also by the Palliative Unit at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.

Funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 9 at 2 pm in Ste-Trinity Church, Eel River Crossing. Mr. Donat Savoie will rest at Savoie Parlor situated at 10 d’Église St., Eel River Crossing on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm and on Monday from noon till time of funeral. A donation to Rebecca Schofield's family would be greatly appreciated by the family.
